Role Background:

  • The newly created role is an exciting challenge for an ambitious molecular biologist with a passion for antibodies, protein engineering and developing the next generation of therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of a wide range of conditions and diseases across Veterinary Medicine.

Role Description:

  • 272BIO is a fast-growing antibody discovery and development company seeking a dynamic Molecular Biologist as a leader within the antibody and protein engineering group at 272BIO.
  • The role would suit an entrepreneurial individual energised by science with a passion and natural curiosity to find innovative solutions to problems, eager to collaborate with fellow scientists across the organisation.
  • Their current role will be in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, or have previous experience of working in or with industry. 
  • The candidate may be in a senior role, or ready to move into a more senior role with additional responsibilities.
  • As a highly skilled molecular biologist, the successful candidate should have significant experience of antibody and protein engineering, ideally across different scaffolds including monoclonal antibodies, single-domain antibodies and fusion proteins
  • Experience building bi-/multi-specific antibodies would be an advantage. Experience of antibody optimisation and humanisation / speciation is preferred.
  • The candidate should have experience of leading and developing lab scientists at all skill levels.
  • The ability to foster active collaboration within and between all lines and teams is essential. Communication skills are vital in the role. The candidate will have skills to effectively articulate antibody engineering strategy to a multi-functional team, senior leadership and collaboration partners. The ability to articulate complex concepts and solutions to internal stakeholders and external partners is essential.
  • The candidate will be fully integrated in the antibody projects teams as well as working closely with the functional teams. The candidate will have the ability to align with teams leading protein modelling and automation, protein expression and purification, in vitro and cell-based assay and antibody characterisation, clinical and translation science, and CMC and bioanalytical teams in Belgium.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate or show the potential to build experience of antibody discovery and development from concept to clinic and through market registration.
  • 272BIO is growing as a smart biotech, continually improving processes through the adoption of automation, new techniques and efficiencies.  As a leader of molecular biology and engineering the candidate will be pivotal in helping the company achieve these goals.
